Southern Grenadines Animal Kindness (SGAK)

Overview

Born out of the dream of a group of persons based in the Grenadines (who had observed the effects of neglect, starvation, abuse and disease on the animals in the islands), SGAK has been in operation for 6 years now. SGAK has neutered / spayed, disease-treated, rehabilitated and re-homed over 300 - 400 dogs and cats (and the occasional goat) on both Mayreau and Union Island. In addition to neutering / spays, they also medicate the animals against fleas, ticks, worms, mange, other diseases and injuries as needed. In a number of cases, they simply feed dogs and puppies in need.

SGAK has a shelter facility on Union Island with a full time resident carer (Susie). The facility has about ½ acre of shaded runs and holding kennels for recovery. The shelter provides medications, care and recovery time for puppies and injured or sick animals until they can be placed with responsible owners who must commit to proper care of their new pet.

SGAK is privately funded by its founders, but they do require outside donations to make ends meet as the facility and numbers of animals has expanded significantly. They appreciate any kind of financial support that comes in. Please give generously to support this worthy and humane programme of animal kindness.
