Overview

Marine Power Services (MPS) is one of the reasons many yachts return to Antigua – as they offer exceptional engineering services and support. 

A family run business, personable owners Steve, Tom and Janetta Miller continue to expand their service capabilities in order to facilitate their ever-growing market clientele, including expanding their general engineering tooling and machine shop capabilities with new lathe and milling equipment.

Steve is a former yacht engineer and captain, with over 28 years’ experience in Antigua. During this time,MPS has remained in the fore, primarily by keeping up to date with all the latest systems technology / practices. The MPS technical staff continue to expand their ongoing training courses, and the company is an authorised dealer for Northern Lights, Caterpillar and Yanmar. 

Due to their excellent trade credibility, they carry out ongoing warranty works for new builds, along with a number of shipyards – including Royal Huisman, Nautor and Oyster. Their reputation for high-quality stainless and aluminium fabrication continues to grow. For these works, they stock a comprehensive quantity of stainless, aluminium, bronze, titanium and bearing plastics. They also carry out custom fabrication – including fixed frame stainless steel Biminis – and are happy to undertake any custom job one might require, including exhaust systems complete with custom lagging and any 'on board' welding (for which they have a portable TIG welder, and carry specific stocks of welding elbows / flanges etc). 

MPS also performs well in the field of hydraulics (looking after vangs, cylinders, backstays, steering pumps etc.) and now stocks a good inventory of stainless fittings in both metric and imperial sizes, plus large quantities of Shell Tellus hydraulic oils. Beyond this, MPS will source any other hard-to-find mechanical spares and also offer an oil disposal service. Duty-free oil is supplied and delivered from their bonded warehouse.

Welding / Fabrication

This highly respected Marine Engineering business also has a renowned reputation for delivering high quality stainless and aluminium welding and fabrication works. They have a well tooled workshop complete with new lathe and milling machines plus benders, TIG and MIG welding capabilities - and they offer works from shaft straightening and welding repairs right through to high grade ‘superyacht finish’ custom fabrications. 

MPS also have an excellent reputation for producing high quality fixed frame stainless Biminis, and beyond this, will take on any custom job that is required including exhaust systems and custom bearing fabrications.
