Marieke Derks

Amsterdam born Marieke grew up on the shores of the North Sea learning sailing at a young age from her father, a sea pilot.

Her studies and professional career followed a path through educational technology, business development and marketing. In 2002 she fell in love with Thailand and Myanmar, moving to Southeast Asia with her partner Bert van Muylwijk, working as dive instructor and charter/ delivery captain for several seasons.

She now combines three passions (marketing, yachting and love for Asian destinations) by consulting yachting companies on internet marketing & sales. She has been an agent for Sevenstar Yacht Transport since 2013, initiated the annual Sail Thailand cruising rally, consulted governments on marine tourism development, is a member of the Thai Marine Business Association, co-produced the 2017 Asia Pacific Superyacht Conference, co-authored the 2020 Superyacht Services Guide to the Pacific, Asia and Middle East, with a thoroughly researched Australia section - the first of its kind for the Superyacht industry.

Marieke firmly believes in collaboration, providing value and in social responsibility, 

As part of the SSG team, she is helping put Southeast Asia and Australia on the global superyacht map in a sustainable way.
