Born in an area without navigable waters the first thing Bert did when going to University in Amsterdam was learn how to sail. The yachting virus never left him!
It was destiny that years later he met Marieke Derks with that similar passion. Another passion they shared was marketing. Together they set up a marketing company and decided after 8 years to successfully sell the company and started traveling to other and exciting parts of the world.

Eventually they found home in Asia where Bert worked in various capacities. Dive instructor, web developer, charter captain, charter marketing and yacht broker. All of which had nothing to do with his psychology degree.

He has now moved on to the exciting world of superyachts and the promotion of Asia Pacific and Australia as an unmatched and diverse cruising and refit destination. The Superyacht Services Guide is an excellent way to show owner, captains and crew what our region has to offer.
