About Petite Martinique

Overview

As part of the satellite of Grenadian jurisdiction, this small fishing and trading outpost enjoys a ‘laissez faire’ existence.

On PM (as it is affectionately referred to by locals), many residents are more than pleased to welcome you to their charismatic ‘stress free’ way of life. A quick tour of the village and its surroundings is recommended, whilst the yacht is bunkering diesel at the B & C Fuel Dock or anchored over at Petit St. Vincent (just across the water).

Provisioning of crew wines and spirits comes recommended at the supermarkets, as prices are especially competitive on these products. Any one of a selection of friendly local café / bar outlets will freshly prepare tasty seasoned local fish for the meandering passer-by; and the whole experience, including the views outwards to the other islands, is exceptionally stress relieving and therapeutic.

The definitive health benefits of life in PM can, perhaps, be best understood by respectfully observing the headstones in the cemetery – residents often live to grand old ages and there is no shortage of centenarians who have woven their lives on and around this charming island.

NB* Due to the passage of Hurricane Beryl in 2024 over Carriacou, the island sustained substantial damage, and is in the process of rebuilding. Some of the landline numbers may still not working, so try cell phones.
